My interpretation of the Sandman.
The Sandman has something of a mysterious past. He wakes up, wash up on the beach of the east river and doesn't know how he got there. All he can remember is his name is Flint Marco. He has a few fading memories such as an image of flashing light, a man's voice saying, " At your own risk, tough guy," and an image of a little girl giving him a hug. As soon as he wakes up he soon discovers he has the ability to morph into sand as well as control over it.
In the backstage of this guys past, he is William Baker, convicted felon. Sentenced to 30 years in prison for a dozen armed robbery's. He is given the opportunity for a lighter sentence buy a group of suppose government scientist for a secret weapons experiment, bonding microscopic machines to act as a radiation shield for a human being. What he doesn't know that this is an illegal experiment by non-government officials and they bribed the prison warden for an inmate to act as there lab rat. They quickly cover there track. As Baker is carried off to the lab testing cite, the warden falsify's his prison files, morgue records, death certificate and tells his closest relatives he killed himself in his cell. Bakers ex-wife, does not look into it for obvious reasons and the case is dropped. During the testing he is given the identity of Flint Marco, for security reasons he is told, and strapped in the table. The experiment goes horribly wrong as he is presumed disintegrated. His remains are toss down the drain and into the river.
Re-morphing to human form, the amnesiac Sandman can think only of is the little girl giving him a hug and the complied need to steal money for her because in reality she is his ill-daughter and he was a armed robber only for the reason for her to get better treatment. (yeah I borrowed that from Spider-Man 3)
Not much here I have changed appearance wise but I figure I show Sandman in his dual forms- his normal human form-and his sand form,
